This week the northeastern portion of the United States has been assessing the damage wrought by Hurricane Irene. High winds and flooding caused billions of dollars of damage, left millions without electrical power and claimed the lives of more than 40 people. Mr. Jonathan McNair, area pastor for the New England congregations, reports that most of our members were protected from damage during the storm. High temperatures, drought and wildfires continue to plague the south central portion of the USA, while violence and bloodshed continue to unsettle the Middle East.
